Learning Objectives
After completing this help guide, you’ll be able to:
- Access Comet Data
- Navigate to registered players report
- Use parameters to run report with required data
Reporting on our registered players is now available through the new reporting platform - Comet Data. Reports in Comet Data are more generic than they have been previously so you will see there are a lot more parameters that allows us to manipulate the data we are reporting on.
Start by navigating to Comet Data at https://comet.oceaniafootball.com/data/ then log in using the same username and password that you use to log into Comet.
Once you are on the dashboard select Persons from the menu on the left. (note - if you cannot see the menu click the 3 bars menu icon on the top left of the screen to display)
Once we have selected the Persons category from the menu we will see a list of reports related to this category. For this guide we want to select the top report labelled Person Registrations.
Now we will be in our report screen with all of the parameters we can set to provide our data. Let's look at a simple report on all of the players that currently have a CONFIRMED registration in our club.
To do this we first need to set the Association parameter. This needs to be the name of the Federation where your club is registered, luckily it will default to this value for us so we don't need to change anything.
Next we need to set the Club parameter. When you are logged in at club level you will only see your club as an option in this field. Just click the field and click the club to input the value.
As we are focusing on player registrations the next parameter we need to set is Registration Category. Set this to Player. (note - you can change this parameter to also report on coaches, staff or officials that are registered in your club)
The final parameter we are going to set is Registration Status. The report we are wanting to run is the list of players that have a current registration with our club so we will set this as CONFIRMED.
Once those parameters are set, click Run Report.
The report will display all players that match our parameters. On the top right of the report there are another 3 icons that allow us to do a few more things.
Let's work through what each of these do.
This icon relates to the column display of our report. By default all of the available columns will be selected but this may be more data than we actually need. By clicking the columns icon we can either untick all of the columns we don't need or we can untick Show All at the top of the list and then tick only the columns we want.
This icon allows us to export the contents of the report to an Excel spreadsheet. For larger reports you will receive a notification that a link to download the report will be sent to the email address of your user account. If it is a smaller account the report will download straight into the browser.
This icon allows us to save the report. This is useful if we are going to be running reports using the same parameters quite often. Click this item to see the save report options. From there we need to input a name for the report and optionally we can add a description. Then click Save. To view our saved reports we need to click My Reports from the menu on the left. Then click the three dots on the right of the report we want to run and select Run Report. |
Now that we have run a basic player registrations report let's look at some of the other parameters available to us and how we can use these to get other data from the same report.
Parameter | Description |
Gender & Date of Birth from/to | Use these parameters to narrow your report down to specific genders and/or age ranges. |
Registration Category | The registration category parameter allows us to to report on other types of registrations in our club using the same report. You can leave this blank to report on all registration types or you can choose one more types to narrow your report. |
Registration start/end date from/to | You can use the registration start/end date from/to parameter fields to define what period of time you want to see registrations in your club. For example we may want to see all registration for the current year so we could set registration start date from January 1st and leave registration start date to empty which means it would pick up all registrations from the start of the year until the time when the report was run. Alternatively, we could set the registration start date from as 01/01/2021 and the registration start date to as 31/12/2021 which would give us all registrations from last season. |
Registration start/end date interval | The registration start/end date interval allows us to report on dynamic intervals without having to change dates every time we run the report. For example we might want to check our new registrations every day. To do this we can set the registration start date interval as 'today' which will only show new registrations that have started today. |
Registration Status | Registration status allows us to report on current or previous registrations. If we are reporting on current registrations we can set this parameter to 'Confirmed'. If we are reporting on registrations from previous seasons then this would need to be set as 'Terminated'. |
