Learning Objectives

After completing this help guide, you’ll be able to:

  • Add a concussion substitution against players within a match.

New Zealand Football has updated our concussion guidelines and we now allow for concussion substitutions to be used in certain competitions.

To add a concussion substitution to a match, you will need to log into COMET or the COMET App and access your match as normal.

Note: The process for entering substitutions is unchanged. The only difference for a concussion substitution and normal substitution is the 'substitution type', which is explained below.

COMET Web

Once you're viewing your match, you will need to navigate to the team's tab where you will add the concussion substitution.

Here we are going to be working in the Lineup section of this page.

To add a concussion substitution, simply click on the relevant person. For this scenario, Test TEST is being substituted because of concussion symptoms (as per the New Zealand Football Concussion Guidelines) and being replaced by Player A FOOTY TIP.

Once you have selected the player that is entering the game as a concussion substitution replacement, you will need to select the +button to add an event.

Then follow these steps,

  • Add Substitution into the Event Type
  • Update the Substitution Type to Concussion
  • Enter the Event Occurrence (during the match or during a break)
  • Enter the minute of substitution
  • Select the player being substituted
  • Select Save

The concussion substitution in the match will show the same as normal substitutions, but using the concussion substitution will mean the correct number of remaining normal substitutions will be allowed.

COMET App

Once you're viewing your match in the COMET App, you will need to navigate to the team's tab where you will add the concussion substitution.

Here we are going to be working in the Lineup section of this page.
